Holsten Galleries newsletter
Greetings! I hope you and your families are well and enjoying the summer season. In this edition of Holsten Galleries News, I’m excited to share some outstanding works by some of the top artists in the glass art field. It’s fun but never easy to make these choices because I have so much great inventory to choose from. In the nearly 50 years since I opened Holsten Galleries in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the level of sophistication and technical excellence in the field of glass art has grown exponentially. Long gone is the frequent question in those early days, "Is it art or is it craft?" We all understand now more than ever that the answer is a resounding, "It’s both!!!" |

Dinosaur Most glass art collectors would probably agree that the Maestro’s most iconic series is the Dinosaurs. This now familiar form captures perfectly the movement and flow of blown hot glass that differentiates this art form from other types of sculpture. This gorgeous example is prototypical in its shape, colors and surface etching. |

Eclipse This handsome new piece by Massachusetts glass artist Martin Rosol is the perfect example of combining a highly refined artistic sense with impeccable craftsmanship. As with this month’s Lino piece, I have elected to show both sides of this piece to make your experience as close as possible to an in person viewing. |

Insatiable Twilight Gaze This is one of the last and most beautiful Stephen Powell pieces from his double lobe series, perhaps the most iconic look of this awesome late artist’s work. This piece has never been offered for sale until now. It has all of the dramatic qualities of Powell’s best work. I am particularly fond of the elegant shape and the rich palette of colors. |
Untitled This new piece by North Carolina glass artist Alex Bernstein captures the magic of his sophisticated casting techniques. His cast, carved and polished glass sculptures provide the viewer with intimate narrative landscapes, drawn from light, form and color. Alex explores ideas about the passage of time and the processes of creation and transformation. |
