Note from Kenn Holsten
Greetings. Spring time is for new beginnings and I want to share some new work on my website. Most of these pieces are quite new, with the exception of a classic Marvin Lipofsky piece. I hope you enjoy this edition of Holsten Galleries News and look forward to hearing from you.

Angel Tear
by Lino Tagliapietra
One of Lino Tagliapietra’s first taller series was the "Angel Tear" series. This particular piece does not have the extremely long stem that some previous pieces from this series did. I like the somewhat more compact form here and the palette of colors, the cane work and the surface cutting are all outstanding on this beautiful piece.

Otaru Series
by Marvin Lipofsky
This colorful piece is from a series that Marvin Lipofsky created in Otaru, Japan. Its organic form is classic Lipofsky but the pastel palette makes it somewhat unique in Marvin’s work. It is also a bit smaller than most Lipofskys. I love the form and the use of negative space here.

Rest
by John Kiley
This new piece by John Kiley has an easygoing, simple elegance, as its name suggests. I love the two subtle colors and the way they play off of each other when viewed from different angles. Unlike many of John’s works, this one has a lower center of gravity which gives it an earthy quality that I like very much.

Amber Reach Disc
by Alex Bernstein
Alex Bernstein sent me this new piece only yesterday. I love the form, the color which is somewhere between amber and apricot and also the surface treatment. Like John Kiley’s piece it has a natural, subtle elegance which makes it a pleasure to view.

Tree in Copper Red
by David Schwarz
This blown glass piece by David Schwarz has many wonderful optical elements which , in combination, dazzle the eye and inspire the beholder to want to see it from every possible angle. The metal branch-like stand is the perfect perch for this wonderful glass sculpture.

Raven Black Baskets
2015 Studio Edition

Even though this new 2015 Chihuly Studio Edition was featured a month ago along with the other three new series, I like it so much that I wanted to invite you to take another look. The combination of the colors and the forms of the three Baskets creates what I believe might be Chihuly’s most sophisticated Studio Edition to date.
