This month I want to share with you exciting new pieces by some of my favorite artists and also to introduce to you the work of a new artist on my website, Kerrick Johnson. Tatoosh by Lino Tagliapietra
I love Lino Tagliapietra’s "Tatoosh" series and this new example is one of my favorites. The intricate patterns in the canework and the subtle yet powerful spectrum of colors combine with the elegant form to create a harmoniously beautiful piece of glass sculpture. Once again the Maestro outdoes himself in his quest for the sublime.

Tlingit Hat by Preston Singletary
This is the first "Hat" series piece I have had of Preston’s for some time and this one was worth waiting for. His Tlingit design elements are an interpretive representation of age old symbols from Singletary’s native culture. The blown hat form is simple, open and pleasing. The shade of blue perfect.

Middy Polished Plate Glass Vase by Sidney Hutter
This new piece by Sidney Hutter is a great example of this series. A vase in title alone, the sophisticated stacking and alteration of the glass elements only hints at the possibility of a solid vessel. I particularly love the beautiful colors of this piece. Django Cloud by Nancy Callan
One of Nancy Callan’s perennial favorite series is the "Cloud" series. This new piece has a most pleasant, billowy form and an unexpected yet highly effective combination of colors: violet, blue and chartreuse. Nancy’s mastery of the canework technique is once again evident. |

Fractured Pair by Kerrick Johnson
I’m very pleased to introduce a new artist to the Holsten Galleries stable. Kerrick Johnson is a talented young glassblower from Chatanooga. His forms are simple and elegant. His mastery of the material is evident in both the areas of blowing and cold work. Please go to his new web page to see more.

Reach by Dan Dailey, Secondary Market
I have recently added several pieces to my Secondary Market page. This new addition by Dan Daily entitled "Reach" was completed in 2006. As always, Dan’s mastery of his materials (glass and bronze in this case) is clear and his imaginative and unique design places his work among the most creative expressions of contemporary glass art.
