newsletter
In this month’s newsletter I want to feature some new works by several different artists. Many more new pieces can be seen on my website. As always, I am in awe of what these artists are able to create with so basic a material as glass. In the 33 years I have been a glass art dealer, I have enjoyed watching the evolution and maturing process of this art form. Sometimes it seems impossible to me that there is much room left for improvement and innovation. Then again, I have been proven wrong about that so many times that I assume that I will continue to be amazed well into the future.

Featured Works
Fuji by Lino Tagliapietra
New Lino Tagliapietra works! There are several great new Lino Tagliapietra pieces that I have just put on my website. I am very pleased to be able to share with you a great piece from Lino Tagliapietra’s new series, "Fuji." I love both the cane work and the coloring in this piece. In many ways it is a departure from many of Lino Tagliapietra’s previous series and yet it has the unmistakable feeling that only comes from the hands of the Maestro. Bravo, Lino Tagliapietra!
Three Brothers by Preston Singletary
This new piece by Preston is quite different than any I’ve seen before. I love the color and the graphics. The form is also elegant. I have not heard from Preston yet as to the story behind this piece but I do know that all of his works are in some way inspired by his native Tlingit tradtition.
Lavendar Mist Cloud by Nancy Callan
I think that this is one of the most beautiful examples of Nancy’s "Cloud" series. The form is perfect and the colors are wonderful. By the way, are you aware that Nancy gave a TED Talk a few months back.? You will find the link to that talk on her biography page on my website.
Floppy Flippant Teaser by Stephen Powell
I am constantly amused by Stephen’s choice of titles and this title is no exception. This is only the second time I’ve featured an open bowl form from Stephen’s new smaller series of work. I love the shape of this one and the colors are exquisite.
Blue Sky Basket, 2004 by Dale Chihuly
Most of you are aware of Chihuly’s smaller Studio Edition series. They are a great way for a new collector to own a piece of Dale’s in a price range which is much less than that of Dale’s larger unique works. You may not be aware that, in addition to the editions from 2010 and 2011, there are a limited number of pieces still available from some of the previous years. A great example of this would be the "Blue Sky Basket" from 2004. This piece exemplifies the feeling of one of Dale’s very first series which goes back to the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, the "Basket" series.
