Greetings. I hope you and your families are well and enjoying the autumn weather. With all of the news on our upcoming election, hopefully seeing some beautiful works of glass art will be a pleasant respite. Enjoy this month’s newsletter and stay in touch!

New Works

Shifting by Latchezar Boyadjiev
This new cast sculpture by California artist Latchezar Boyadjiev is truly beautiful. I love the depth of the color and the wonderful movement in this piece. Many of you are familiar with Latchezar’s larger works which can be three feet in height or even larger. The more intimate scale of this piece is very appealing to the collector who has run out of space for large scale works.

Salacious Lemon Cyclone by Stephen Powell
I was so delighted to receive this new Powell piece today just in time to include in this letter. As is the case with Boyadjiev, Stephen Powell has been creating some works recently which are far less imposing in scale than what many collectors are used to seeing. I think the colors of the murini in this particular bowl are absolutely exquisite.

Maui by Lino Tagliapietra
Many of you will remember that Lino Tagliapietra has a major exhibition up now at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. You may not be aware that many of the works in this show are actually available. The show comes down in January. This piece from the “Maui” series was one of my favorites when my wife Christine and I attended the opening of the exhibition in July. You can see a few more of my favorites on my Museum of Glass page and I also have a file available of the entire show if you would like to see that.

Prisma Top by Nancy Callan
Even though I featured one of Nancy’s “Top” series in my last newsletter, I like this new one so much that I felt compelled to include it here. I love the depth of this piece and the way Nancy works with the colored beads of glass (murini). The fact that the form is a top makes this wonderful work playful as well as elegant. Would we say playfully elegant or elegantly playful?

Azure Blue Seaform Pair by Dale Chihuly
I’m a big fan of Dale’s Studio Editions. It’s true that they are smaller and less “one-of-a-kind” than the larger works, and yet each one captures the essence of one of Chihuly’s major series—be it Seaform, Persian, Basket or Macchia. And the quality is exactly the same as that of the largest pieces. To see more available Studio Editions please visit this page. There are also numerous other earlier Studio Editions still available.
